Post Type: Temporary Funded Contract post, the indicative duration of which is 36 months, subject to contract. A panel may be formed from which future similar vacancies may be filled.
Title of Project: Solutions for the mushroom industry to emerging disease threats from Trichoderma and Virus (RMIS 6270).
Location: Teagasc, Ashtown Food Research Centre, Dublin 15 - Although the post will be located at Ashtown, the appointee will be based in Kinsealy, Dublin 17 for a short period from the date of appointment for approximately 4-6 months.
Reporting to: Head of Department and/or nominated manager
Grade/Salary: Research Officer, with a starting salary of €31,729 per annum. The current salary scale is €31,729 to €56,430. Starting pay will be at the minimum of the scale per Government Circular E100/8/82.  Exceptional circumstances may apply for candidates with current or previous service in the public sector (including Teagasc). Remuneration may be adjusted from time to time in line with Government Policy.
Basic Function: Research Scientist in applied mushroom pathology and epidemiology.
Person Specification
Essential Qualifications
  • Candidates must have an honours Level 8 degree in Biological/Agricultural Science or a related discipline.
Desirable Qualifications
  • A postgraduate qualification and/or a PhD in a relevant discipline is desirable.
  • Research experience in Mushroom Science  would be a distinct advantage
