$89,686 - $95,176 p.a (Plus 17% superannuation)
The Animal Research & Teaching Facility (LARTF) is located at La Trobe University's Melbourne campus at Bundoora. The facility caters for production animals, native and exotic species, and common laboratory animals.
The position
In this role you will be responsible for the provision of leadership and operational management within LARTF, including, but not limited to:
Managing Animal Husbandry operations
Staff management
Ensuring policy compliance
Conceptualising and implementing policy and procedure that relate to the operations of the facility
Project management
Budgetary management
Under the broad direction of LARTF's Director, you will plan and manage the daily operations of the Bundoora campus facilities as well as manage the facility's OH&S strategy, equipment and maintenance and lead a safe working environment.
In conjunction with the Director LARTF, you will provide organisational, financial and resources input towards new animal facilities project scoping and planning to ensure that project outcomes are efficiently delivered.
The candidate
To succeed, you will possess a relevant tertiary qualification in Laboratory Animal Technology or have obtained the equivalent and a minimum of 8 years extensive experience in animal services. You will have highly developed communication and interpersonal skills and will use your strong leadership skills to teach, motivate and lead technical staff. You will demonstrate your high level organisational and time management skills as well as demonstrate proficiency and ability in performing experimental and diagnostic techniques in a laboratory animal facility. Extensive experience in laboratory animal management is essential to be considered for this role. Although not essential, candidates who have a professional membership within the field of Animal Technology (such as ANZLAA) will be considered highly desirable.
