Opening for RNC/BSC Planning Engineer in Egypt

Currently we have an opening for RNC/BSC Planning Engineer with our client in Egypt. It is a 6 months extendable contract position. Please find below the job description:

Responsibilities
This RNC/BSC Capacity Planning Engineer is responsible for the execution of the following activities:
• Design, analyze, plan and modify network RNC/BSC supporting customer Communication implementation activities.
• Develop and evaluate network performance criteria and measurement methods.
• Prepare the analysis of the short-term or long-term capacity needs for RNC/BSC.
• Conducts network architecture design and feasibility studies.
• Conducts economic and population growth studies to determine impact on network capacity and development plan projections.
• Develop options to resolve capacity constraint situations (for example, equipment additions needed) based on both forecasted and unforecasted customer requirements.
• Conduct business case analyzes for customer specific transport solutions.
• Assist in the design of transport solutions that address capacity requirements.
• Convert customer traffic forecasts to capacity requirements.
• Compile and present recurring and ad-hoc reports regarding network capacity, network element.
• Provide technical and analytical support for new technology/architecture and equipment end of life replacement initiatives.

BSS Optimization
Monitoring and maintaining the utilization on all the interfaces and H/W resources of the BSCs including but not limited to:
• Abis Interface (TDM and IP)
• A-Interface (TDM and IP)
• Ater Interface
• Gb Interface (Frame Relay and IP)
• High Speed Signalling Links (HSL)
• Low Speed Signalling Links (LSL)
• Transcoder Utilidation
• GSL Utilization
• TRH (RPG3) / TRHB Utilization
• GPH (RPP) / GPHB Utilization
• CPU Load
• Paging Load
• Handling all LAC design and LAC optimization activities
• Monitoring cells’ utilization and TCH blocking all over the network and handling the regular Sites Expansions process.
• Testing and accepting new BSS S/W releases before their rollout on live network.
• Studying, proposing and testing new BSS features that could be of added value to Operator network. Implementing at least one new feature each two months.

UTRAN OPTIMIZATION

The managed service shall be responsible for the following aspects:

• Monitoring and maintaining the utilization on all the interfaces and H/W resources of the RNCs including but not limited to IuCS / IP, IuPS / IP, Iur / IP, Processor Load, GPB, SPB, GOU, SPU and DPU boards utilization.
• Monitoring all Node-B capacity aspects all over the network including but not limited to Iub Utilization, Channel Elements Utilization, Code Utilization, Power Utilization, HS users licenses.
• Monitoring, analyzing and troubleshooting RAB failures all over the network.
• Monitoring Iub utilization all over the network and handling the regular Iub Expansions process.
• Testing and accepting new UMTS S/W releases before their rollout on live network.
• Studying, proposing and testing new UTRAN features that could be of added value to Operator network. Implementing at least one new feature each two months.


Required Skills

• Appropriate degree/diploma in Business and/or Telecommunications.
• At least 3 years of experience from Network Consulting or Operations, Consulting
• Good knowledge and understanding of applicable parts of Client services product portfolio and delivery processes.
• Good knowledge of products and systems in the customers network.
• Good knowledge and understanding of the customers business situation.
• Good leadership & communication skills.
• Customer Relationship Management skills.
Fluency in English
