Background
We are looking for a research fellow to join a team of academics and clinicians developing and evaluating a training intervention for teachers and parents of children with physical disabilities. The training intervention is designed to improve parents’ and teachers’ confidence in providing postural care. It is a collaboration between Canterbury Christ Church University, the University of Kent and clinical partners at East Kent Hospitals University Foundation Trust and Chailey Heritage. The role is based in The Research Centre for Children, Families and Communities (RCfCFC), Canterbury Christ Church University, The Centre, sits outside but links to the University’s Faculties of Education and Health and Social Care, draws together academics from a range of different disciplines in order to undertake research that promotes the establishment of new ways of understanding social issues.
The Role
The post-holder will play an important role in the research collaboration. She/he will be responsible for qualitative data collection and analysis, in particular organising and conducting focus groups with workshop attendees (parents and teachers of children with physical disabilities) and interviewing children with disabilities about their experiences of postural care. The post holder will work collaboratively with the research team to deliver the project on time. The role will also involve networking with organisations in which the intervention is to be delivered. While the research activity will be conducted under the supervision of a qualitative research methodologist, the post-holder will be required to work independently on a day-to-day basis.
Requirements
You will hold a First degree or equivalent in a social science or related discipline and have a Postgraduate qualification in research methods or related field (including qualitative methods). We are looking for someone with experience of working in the health or disability field or in a child related environment. You will need to have demonstrable experience of collecting and analysing qualitative research data, either in a child, health or disability related field. The post-holder must be sensitive to the issues affecting children with physical disabilities, their families and carers and be able to relate to children and to parents/carers who have children with disability.

We are seeking an enthusiastic Research Fellow (Grade 7) to be part of a newly developing research team delivering a NIHR-funded programme of research concerned with evaluating service delivery interventions as they are rolled out in the NHS. The post holder will work independently as a researcher supporting qualitative research activities relating to a large evaluation project on service redesign running across several NHS 'economies' including Primary Care, Acute and Foundation Trusts. Working in a multi-disciplinary team the post-holder will be coding and analysing qualitative data. This project is one of nine that comprise the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Collaborations For Leadership In Applied Health Research And Care (CLARHC) for Birmingham and Black Country
The successful candidate will have a good first degree in a health-related field e.g. medical sciences, sociology or psychology (a PhD or equivalent experience would be an advantage), an understanding of the principles of qualitative research and experience of collecting and analysing qualitative data, such as interviews, focus groups or participant-observation, and using thematic, narrative, discourse or framework analysis and use of qualitative analysis software programmes.
The post holder will be based in the Department of Public Health Epidemiology and Biostatistics in the School of Health and Population Sciences, and will also contribute to the research methods, dissemination of research findings and applications for further funding.

The appointment will be on UCL Grade 8. The salary range will be £39,818 - £43,236 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.
The postholder will be based in the Material Culture section of the Department of Anthropology, and, while contributing to core research in Digital Anthropology and Material Culture will be expected to participate and contribute to Anthropology more generally. They will have a specific responsibility to teach, administer and support the MSc in Digital Anthropology and help develop a wider centre in Digital Anthropology.
The expected start date for this post is 01/09/2012.
The successful candidate will be a promising researcher able to carry out teaching and administration in Digital Anthropology and some other area within Material Culture studies which could include consumption, media, museums, art and visual culture, materials or a particular genre of material and visual culture. They should have evident experience as an ethnographer. They should also have teaching experience and publications in both the fields of Digital Anthropology and Material Culture studies.

LSE Health seeks to appoint a full-time Research Officer to carry out policy-relevant research on health systems and health policy in high-income countries (mainly Europe). The post is funded for one year in the first instance.
The successful candidate will hold a Masters in social science, social policy, economics or a health-related field. You will have knowledge of health systems and health policy in high-income countries and experience of collecting and analysing quantitative or qualitative data and writing up and presenting academic research to academic and policy audiences. They will also have excellent communication and organisational skills and an ability to co-ordinate research projects involving multiple partners.
